Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent to help detect spam.

An anonymized string, generated based on your email address (also called a hash), may be sent to the Gravatar service if you use it. You can find the privacy policy page of the Gravatar service here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload images to the site, you should avoid uploading images containing EXIF GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download the images and view the location information.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can choose whether your name, email address, and website can be saved in a cookie. This is for your convenience so you don’t have to fill in these details again for a new comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

If you visit our login page, we store a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted as soon as you close your browser.

Once you log in, we will store some cookies related to your login information and display preferences. Login cookies are valid for 2 days, and display preference cookies for 1 year. If you select “Remember me,” your login will be saved for 2 weeks. When you log out of your account, the login cookies are deleted.

When you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie is stored by your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only holds the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

Suggested text: Posts on this site may contain embedded content (for example, videos, images, posts, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly as if the visitor has visited the other site.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including recording your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Who we share your data with

Suggested text: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of having to moderate them.

For users who register on our site (if applicable), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your rights regarding your data

Suggested text: If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an export file of your personal data that we have, including all the data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all personal data we have about you. This excludes any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Suggested text: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
